So I'm Thinking About Going Vegan........

Well Just For A Week lol..

I was talking with one of my home boys in one of our healthy lifestyle conversations when he proposed the idea to me. I always heard the benefits of not eating red meat and the gifts of cleansing your system not to mention to lose some extra pounds. With me freshly entering my 30's the need for healthy living is as important now than ever. Like most black folks we share the complex of dealing with high blood pressure and diabetes, two diseases that more often than not can lead to damaging health concerns.

Saying Goodbye To My Grandfather.....

It's not easy losing someone you love and admire. My grandfather lived a great life and will be greatly. He was the friend of many and never had a evil bone in his body. This has really hit our family hard and I know it won't be easy going forward. As I look to his going home services tomorrow I look back on the great times we had as a family and the many laughs we shared.

I will use his hard work and determination as a foundation for going forward in achieving my own personal goals and aspirations.

R.I.P Grandpa... You will be missed.

Friends, Family, Associates, And Everyone Else...Where's The Breaking Point?

I remember going fishing as a small kid (hard to believe I was a skinny kid. I know!) and putting my bait on the hook, casting it out, and waiting to receive a hit. The first initial hit was amazing because it meant a fish was chugging on my line. After a few moments I would reel him on in, careful not to snag the line. You could always tell how big the fish was sometimes because of the tension in the line and how hard it was pulling. After a few times doing this you pretty much knew what you were getting being careful not to get too excited.

Fishing is sort of like when you bring people into your circle whether it be friend or family. We get caught up in the fact we have people around us despite what they may offer us. Point blank I have a hard time letting people go. I'm selfish at times (yeah I understand that) but I tend to see beyond people's imperfections. That was until I deciphered that everyone has that breaking point.

FAILURE IS NOT A OPTION

It's been a crazy minute since I updated my 'personal' blog so I decided "Oh what the heck" and go back to my original drawing board. Since the start of this blog in May of 2009 my postings have been a window into my upside down and crazy life. I often take the time to share my goals, accomplishments, and even failures. I was speaking with one of my best friends the other night about one day writing a book on the achieving my own success.I've always considered myself a underdog but through diversity I always seem to prevail. I thought about writing in a journal to express the situations that were going on in my life both good and bad. I nixed that idea and decided I would use these experiences (The Blanco Experiences) to tell the tale of who I was. It would serve as my journal and foundation.

So this afternoon during the moderation of my other blog (http://bizzyblanco.com) *shameless plug I know* I decided instead of writing in a notebook and shun out the entire world. I'd share my experiences with you, as you follow me on my journey. Hopefully something I may say or write about can be influential to what you may be going through or hoping to achieve.

I'm gonna do my damnest to blog every few days...So stay tuned because like I've always said "The Best Is Yet To Come"

I refuse to allow Failure to win this battle

Graduation and Beyond.... Creating My Brand!

It's been a long 2 years. Setbacks, breakup, lost ties, and everything else imaginable but God has held me down through it all. So what exactly is the next big thing for B?

Well for starters I will graduate tomorrow obtaining a degree in Surgical Technology. It may not sound like much right now but one can't go wrong in the healthcare field. If I'm gonna fall back on anything I'd want to have cushion on something that will keep me afloat in case another "recession" wants to rear it's ugly head.

I have no limitations about relocating out of my element as I'm ready to embark on what the rest of the world has to offer me.

Looking forward I have a dream that I have envisioned for myself since way back. To create something that I can call my own, network, and hopefully prosper with. I'm in the process creating an entertainment website. It's still being developed but so far I'm happy with the way it's shaping up. I want to stand apart from all the rest and bring stories that are both uplifting and exciting and be the voice of the underdog.

"I Can Do All Through Christ Who Strengthens Me"

Stay Tuned! I'm still keeping this blog to keep people updated on my life and to vent occasionally.

Miscommunication killz a Relationship(s)

  1. Lack of clear or adequate communication.
  2. An unclear or inadequate communication.

Miscommunication amongst people happens everyday. It's not intentional (most of the time) but it does happen and we send mix signals to the other party and assumptions occur when someone doesn't respond the way we would like.

I've had it happen to me and I'm sure others have as well. It's not nice and often leads to the ending of friendships, relationships, and worse family ties. Communication is a very successful instrument in securing the longevity of many of our relationships but something we neglect because we think they will "always" be around.

There is nothing worse then caring for someone deeply and they turn the other cheek when you want to just say hello or what's going on? The person may have deeper issues but because they don't communicate effectively you assume otherwise and things deteriorate.

I'm a people person point blank and my lines are always open.. I just wish others would be so considerate when dealing with others.

Two Of The Greatest Voices Out....

Much praise goes out to Adele and Marsha Ambrosius for having the #1 and #2 albums in the country. I rarely buy albums so when I heard early recordings from both artist I instantly knew their work was gonna be amazing. Hopefully before this year is out I will be blessed to see these artist in concert... If you haven't already go check out

Adele "21" and Marsha "Late Nights and Early Mornings"

My heart cries out to Japan....

If it's one thing about me I'm quickly fascinated with worldly events. Something about being apart or witnessing history intrigues me. I can't tell you heart wrenching it was to wake up and watch the final moments of the movie "2012" and moments later see tweets about a major earthquake striking Japan. Instead of going back to bed I instantly became glued to CNN where I watch a Tsunami take out an entire countryside of farm land. What seemed like something out of a disaster movie was indeed unraveling before my very eyes.

Words can't describe what is going on in Japan and my heart goes out to anybody who may be affected by the trying events. I have a cousin who is safe in the south pacific as tsunami warnings were downgraded in the Phillipians.. While we go about out everyday life we must think that sooner or later something like this could happen like this in the United States. I saddens me how people go about their daily lives with no remorse for what's going on in the world. I pray people wake up and realize that what's going on in the world isn't a movie.

The Greatest Rapper Died On March 9th....

R.I.P To my favorite rapper dead or alive.... Ready To Die was the first hip hop album I purchased. My mom didn't like it but hey his music mesmerized me. He was taken to soon because he would have definitely been  one of the major players in music trumping Jay-Z and even Diddy in my opinion. I know he's looking down and proud of his children. His music will live on and I'm thankful to still be a fan. Nobody has came close to touching B.I.G.

My Favorite Top 5 B.I.G tracks off all time...
1. One More Chance
2. Warning
3. Skies The Limit
4. Juicy
5. Get Money

The Queen Of Paypal????

I'm not even gonna hate on Kim's hustle. Nowadays artist are skipping record labels all together and releasing music directly from their websites. Why not treat the people that love you the most (the fans) 2 goodies and treats until the actual album is complete. Kim is no different right? So why all the hate.... Well here is my issue.

When you release a mixtape on a confirmed date either it's gonna drop on that actual date delivered by mail or better yet being able to download from Itunes.  None of that actually happened.

Talk about a sour Valentine's Day.... There's no track listing and you actually have to wait until she signs the damn things to receive it. Pure genius or misleading?

While Kim will go down in rap history as one of the most influential and talked about female MC's off all time the way she's going about it is quite hilarious. Overall Kim has been a leading trending topic on the popular social network twitter and released the highly anticipated video for "Black Friday" the straight out the gate single off of the mixtape.  But It remains to be seen whether or not Kim will regain the star status she once had and hopefully allowing hip hop to once again embrace the Queen Bee.

One thing is for certain female rap is once again alive and kicking with Nicki on the brink of releasing "Did It On Em" her 5th single, Foxy Brown throwing herself into the mix once again by news of her  prepping "Black Roses", and Kim's mixtape "Black Friday" the claws are out and femcees are once again dominating the musical hip hop scene.

Life Update: Blog 1

I hate when I haven't blog in a while. Despite the lack of comments there are lots of people who enjoy reading my blog and the things that I have to say. I'm promising to be better with it.

Career Update: I just got a job in hospital as a Patient Transport which is entry level but a great step in the door as I'm networking and making lots of great connections. So I'm not even concerned with my current placement. God has it all under control.

Test and Trails - I'm in the processing of studying extra hard to take my Surgical Tech Certifications. With much delays and push-backs I'll be officially taking and passing it on April 8th. God Willing!

Aside from my career goals I'm in the processing of developing a website that I hope will appeal to the masses and deliver content that is tasteful, unbiased, and informative. Stay Tuned.

Music is the remedy to my soul, God 1st among everything, and I'm living life to the fullest.

Right now I'm vibing to the sounds of "Far Away" ---Marsha Ambrosius.

Valentine's Day.. How much does it mean to you?

No I'm not talking about being in love.. I mean the actual holiday. Are you the type who goes all the way out for your mate? Do you expect something huge? Even in my past relationships it was more designed as a "female" holiday versus what it actually meant to a guy. Well times have changed and now everyone wants to get in on the fun. It's all about pleasing your partner right?

I'm just wondering how many people are gonna send themselves flowers and candy on Monday or Friday even.

I think if you aren't getting married or proposing then a simple card and some candy and flowers will suffice. Be creative and not traditional.

Shout out to all the lovers out there and the ones who don't have it.. also to the ones who have it and don't want it anymore.. #evl..

Myrlie Evers---Civil Rights Heroine.

Myrlie Evers

Civil rights activist, writer. Born Myrlie Louise Beasley on March 17, 1933, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Raised by her grandmother, a schoolteacher, Evers-Williams loved learning and music. Growing up in the segregated South, she went to Alcorn A&M College, one of the only colleges in the state that accepted African American students. While at Alcorn, she met Medgar Evers, a World War II veteran several years her senior. The couple fell in love and married in December of 1951.

When her husband became the Mississippi field secretary for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Evers-Williams worked alongside him. She assisted him as he strove to end the unjust practice of racial segregation in schools and other public facilities and campaigned for voting rights as many African Americans were denied this right in the South. Medgar made enemies of those who didn’t want race relations in the South to change. On June 12, 1963, Medger Evers was shot to death in front of his home by a white supremacist named Brian De La Beckwith.

After her husband’s murder, Evers-Williams fought hard to see his killer brought to justice. Although Beckwith was arrested and brought to trial on murder charges, two all-white juries could not reach a verdict in the case. It would take approximately 30 years for justice to be served, with Williams-Evers keeping the case alive and pushing for Beckwith to pay for his crime. Her efforts were not in vain. In the early 1990s, Beckwith was again arrested and later convicted by a multi-racial jury.

As chairperson of the NAACP, Evers-Williams worked to restore the tarnished image of the organization. She also helped improve its financial status, raising enough funds to eliminate its debt. Evers-Williams received many honors for her work, including being named Woman of the Year by Ms. Magazine. With the organization financially stable, she decided to not seek re-election as chairperson in 1998.

After leaving her post, Evers-Williams established the Medgar Evers Institute in Jackson, Mississippi. She also wrote her autobiography entitled Watch Me Fly: What I Learned on the Way to Becoming the Woman I Was Meant to Be(1999), and many readers were moved by her powerful story.

Evers-Williams has continued to preserve the memory of her first husband with one of her latest projects. She served as editor on The Autobiography of Medgar Evers: A Hero’s Life and Legacy Revealed Through His Writings, Letters, and Speeches

Gone but not forgotten... Gregory Hines

Tap dancer, actor, director, musician. Born February 14, 1946 in New York City. Involved in show business at an early age, Hines grew up as a member of Hines, Hines, and Dad alongside his father and older brothers. He studied dance with master tap dancer Henry Le Tang and spent much of his early career dancing at the Apollo Theater, gleaning knowledge from such fellow performers as the Nicholas Brothers and Sandman Sims.
In 1973, he left Hines, Hines, and Dad to form a jazz-rock group called Severance. But the smooth-as-silk tap dancer soon returned to New York where he launched a distinguished Broadway career that won him a Tony award in 1992 for the headlining role in George C. Wolfe's musical tribute Jelly's Last Jam.
In 1981, Hines landed his first film role, as a Roman slave in Mel Brooks' History of the World-Part 1, as a last-minute replacement for an ailing Richard Pryor. That role proved a stepping stone in Hines' film career, and he went on to star in a range of movies, including 1984's The Cotton Club and White Nights opposite Mikhail Baryshnikov the following year. He also exhibited his comedic timing in such films as Renaissance Man in 1994. That same year, he made his directorial debut with Bleeding Hearts.
In 1987, Hines released an album, simply titled Gregory Hines. He also starred in the short-lived CBS sitcom The Gregory Hines Show, in which he played a single father having trouble reentering the dating scene.
Hines has a daughter Daria with his first wife, Patricia Panella. He has a son Zachary and a stepdaughter Jessica with his second wife, Pamela Koslow.
Gregory Hines died of cancer in Los Angeles August 9, 2003 at the age of 57.

Tech Tuesday: The Kyocera Echo

..

So is this the big secret Sprint was hiding out? I'll let you be the judge..

Computerworld - What are Sprint and Kyocera up to with the dual-touchscreen Echo smartphone?
The Android 2.2-based Kyocera Echo is a decidedly different take on smartphones, with dual 3.5-in. touchscreens that can be used independently, side-by-side or combined (with 4.7-inches total tablet size, once the two screens slide out on a pivot hinge and are fitted together).

The Echo, which was announced Monday night in New York, will sell sometime in the spring for $199.99 after rebate with a two-year plan and a data upgrade.

In an interview with Computerworld on Tuesday, executives at Sprint and Kyocera said the Echo evolved because both companies saw a big opportunity with a dual-screen device that would allow more effective multitasking for users. That way, both companies could serve a large target market of smartphone customers who make up today's "hyper-tasking culture," said David Owens, vice president of product realization for Sprint.
Also, Sprint wanted a device that cried out "innovative," as the carrier works to improve its third-place rank in the U.S. carrier market behind AT&T and Verizon Wireless, Owens said.

In anticipation of heavy usage, the device comes with a second battery and a case that can be connected to the phone via a Micro USB cable. The full-sized 1370mAH battery, which costs as much as $50, is included in the $199.99 after-rebate cost. When attached to the phone, it charges the main battery, and both can be re-charged from a wall outlet.
Owens wouldn't say whether a single battery charge will power a single feature-length movie on both screens, and said battery specs have not been released.

Well I'm not gonna pretend like i'm excited. As technology evolves so should Sprint and I'm not here for what they are trying to sell. if this is how you plan on competing with AT&T and Verizon.. then you might as well die a slow painful death like T-Mobile and the rest..

So long to yesterday...

Today was a very somber day. My great uncle who just happened to be the same age as my father (my great grand mother and my grand mother were pregnant at the same time). My great grand mother had lots of children lol. Anyway my great uncle "Rock" passed aways today. While death is often a sad occasion in biblical terms death is suppose to be a time to rejoice and be happy that the loved one has moved on the heaven. But today presented a rare very different meaning to me today.

My cousin made me realize that most of the older cousins and mostly aunts and uncles had gotten old. Lots of people had canes and often stumbled when they tried to walk. It saddened me just a little because it made me appreciate the time we have here on earth and the change our bodies and appearance would take up in life. The preacher made a fantastic point that I often thought was true growing up as a child.

He said "death was something that happened to people who were sick or old".

I too believed that at one point but seeing as how events seem to occur in todays world nothing is like it was yesterday. I'm sure my uncle lead a great life and he'll pass his legacy onto his son who was just eleven years old. While I embrace death its the preparations for the home going service that are always a bit challenging to me. During funerals I tend to sit there in the pew contemplating people who are older than me passing who still may be alive. I know that sounds weird but it's a thought that always runs through my mind. I don't like the way it makes me feel but I know it's something that will eventually happen one day.

I know death is eminent and it's a road we all must endure.. I just pray when yesterday is gone I would have completed the assignment that God has set forth in my life.

Goodbye Yesterday.

#Throwback Thursday Marvin Gaye - What's Going On?

With so much drama in the world I thought this song was only befitting for a Throwback.....

----Blanco

Nina Simone....#BlackHistoryMonth

Singer, musician, composer, arranger, civil rights activist. Born Eunice Kathleen Waymon on February 21, 1933, in Tryon, North Carolina.

She took the stage name Nina Simone—"Nina" came from a nickname meaning "little one" and "Simone" after the actress Simone Signoret. She won over such fans as Harlem Renaissance writers Langston Hughes, Lorraine Hansberry, and James Baldwin.

By the mid-1960s, Simone became known as the voice of the civil rights movement. She wrote "Mississippi Goddam" in response to the 1963 assassination of Medgar Evers and the Birmingham church bombing that killed four young African-American girls

After the assassination of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968, Simone penned "Why (The King of Love Is Dead)." She also wrote "Young, Gifted and Black," borrowing the title of a play by Hansberry, which became a popular anthem at the time.

In her final years, Simone battled with health problems. Some reports indicate she was battling breast cancer, but that claim has not been officially confirmed. She died on April 21, 2003, at her home in Carry-le-Rouet, France.

While she may be gone, Simone left a lasting impression on the world of music. She sang to share her truth, and her music still resonates with great emotion and power. Simone has inspired an array of performers, from Aretha Franklin to Joni Mitchell. Her deep, distinctive voice continues to be a popular choice for television and film soundtracks, from documentaries to comedies to dramas.

Praying For Egypt....

It's really sad at the events that are taking place over in Cairo, Egypt. I can't even fathom what is taking place in what was considered such a beautiful landmark in the world with such rich history. I just hope a resolution can be made real soon because this tragedy is getting worse. I was listening to CNN this morning and they are hoping President Obama steps in and persuades their leader to step down...

While I'm all for diplomacy some matters are just better left untouched. I understand we have thousands of American's still in that country but the United State can't solve the worlds problems and be universal cop. I laid in bed last night and prayed for not only Egypt but for any state affected by the winter weather or the past few days as well as Queensland, Australia. I feel as though we are living in terrible times and now is the time to come together and be one. This is just my rant so don't pay me any mind.

I felt like sharing Janelle Monae's "Cold War" because the song came across my mind as I woke up this morning..

It's Real Serious On The Nile.....

I must say I commend Anderson Cooper for getting into the trenches nearly getting battered and beat down after arriving in Cairo, Egypt. This is what set's him aside from any of the other networks is that Cooper isn't afraid of what's out there. If there is any newsworthy anchor or reporter worth watching then it's this guy right here.

What's going down in Egypt is a very sad situation and unfortunate for the people and it's government. I've always said I wanted to visit the country one day as I've always been fascinated with the Ancient Egyptian culture. I pray things work out and peace and unity can be restored.

This sometimes makes me think if something like this were to happen here in the states... Wow.

The Return Of Tech Tuesday! Sims 3 Outdoor Living..

Anybody who knows me knows I'm highly addicted to The Sims franchise. I was a junkie from the original. Over the years people simulator has grown astronomically and as of date is the highest selling PC game of all time. Sims 3 which released in 2009 has released several expansion and stuff packs. The recent Outdoor Living Stuff Pack allows Sims to construct the ultimate outdoor experience, complete with all new activities. I've been so busy recently that it wasn't until I was in Wal-Mart today that I saw it on the shelf. So with the recent accomplishments happening I decided to treat myself to something nice...

Black History Month---- 1st Lady Of Jazz

I really enjoyed this last year and I'll be showcasing it again. Highlighting the accomplishments of past African-American men and woman who paved the way and open doors for young people like me today. My mother came up in a era of segregation so it's not as though it happened that long ago. In school it was a huge rite of passage to be educated on people like Martin Luther King, Harriet Tubman, Fredrick Douglas, Mae Jemison, and countless others.

I remember in 12th grade taking up African-American studies an elective thats very absent from classrooms today. So in continuing on with tradition I present to you...

Ella Fitzgerald

A performance at the Apollo Theater’s famed Amateur Night in 1934 set Fitzgerald’s career in motion. Over the next seven decades, she worked with some of the most important artists in the music industry including Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie and Frank Sinatra.
She was dubbed “The First Lady of Jazz” for her mainstream popularity and unparalleled vocal talents—even though her less–than–svelte appearance and upbeat singing style was in contrast to the sultry and bluesy female singers of her day. Her unique ability for mimicking instrumental sounds helped popularize the vocal improvisation of “scatting,” which became her signature technique.
Ella recorded over 200 albums and around 2,000 songs in her lifetime, singing the works of some of the most popular composers such as Cole Porter, Gershwin and Irving Berlin.
Ella Fitzgerald died in 1996 at the age of 79, and is remembered as one of the most influential jazz artists of the 20th century.

Throwback Thursday: Camp Lo--- Luchini

A very underrated group from back in the 90's.... Their album Uptown Saturday Night was a classic.

Signs The World Is Ending #1

This is beyond ridiculous.... No words can even describe the level of ignorance this future criminal is destined to become. Jordan sneakers, scuffed up walls, and babies running around already sets the tone on the mentality of the adults in the household....

Nicki and Drake Get Married.....

No not exactly but in her new video "Moment 4 Life" she does channel her inner Cinderella and tells her own story through the classic fairy tale.

While I love the message the visual did nothing to take this song to the next level. The problem I have with Aubrey and Onika is that they somehow strayed away from their mixtape persona's and completely went to the inner core of pop over night... I miss the old "So Far Gone" Drake and the nasty female version of Wayne... Nevertheless I'm happy for the success of both artist and I can't wait to see what each artist cooks up on their sophomore efforts

Google can I work for you?

So below are the top happiest companies to work for.... I've head stories about Google before and IBM isn't bad either. I think if more companies actually took grass roots meetings seriously and be more pro employee maybe you can make happier workers. I plan to be self-employed by the age of 40 if not sooner. I have too much knowledge and intelligence to waste it away on someone else getting paid.....

Adobe
Offers employees positive psychology training; onsite cafeterias, fitness facilities and bocce courts; and 80 associations like knitting and book clubs bring employees together based on personal interests.

American Express
Encourages flexible schedules like telecommuting, job-sharing and compressed workweeks; employees are offered paid sabbaticals; gay partners receive health benefits.

Google
Offers onsite childcare and encourages employees to visit children during the day; famously provides free meals and snacks; supplies ping pong tables and videogame stations where employees can break from work.

IBM
According to happiness expert Shawn Achor, MIT researchers studied thousands of IBM employees for a year and found the more social they were the better they performed. Each additional e-mail contact added $948 in revenue. IBM since launched a program to facilitate employee introductions to increase overall happiness

KPMG
Invests in happiness training; allows employees to take partially paid leaves for up to 12 weeks; encourages flexible scheduling and formal mentoring programs.
